Social Innovation Toolkit – Practical Guide for Implementing Innovation Incubators

The Social Innovation Toolkit is a core component of the Digital Literacy Enables Up-to-Date Sleep Medicine in Inclusive Healthcare project. It is designed to support higher education institutions in creating and implementing Social Innovation Incubators focused on advancing digital sleep medicine.

Developed within Work Package 3 – Design of Social Innovation Toolkit for Digital Sleep Medicine, the Toolkit is complemented by a Curriculum and Open Educational Resources (OERs).

The Toolkit provides step-by-step guidance for establishing incubators, integrating innovative teaching practices, and promoting EU-aligned service-learning models that combine academic learning with real-world social engagement

Grounded in the intersection of digital health, sleep medicine, and entrepreneurship, the Toolkit supports universities in fostering essential skills in technological innovation, social responsibility, and preventive healthcare.

While it provides concrete examples related to digital sleep medicine, its framework is highly adaptable and can be applied to various themes of social innovation. Universities can select and customize the tools based on their specific objectives, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to emerging challenges.

The Toolkit serves as a bridge between academic learning and real-world healthcare applications, equipping students and educators with structured methods, tools, and resources to address digital health challenges in impactful ways. It reflects the growing need for higher education institutions to adopt open pedagogy, collaborative learning, and innovation-driven approaches to healthcare.

The Social Innovation Toolkit has been updated based on assessments and feedback from a diverse group of stakeholders, ensuring that its guidance, tools, and resources reflect real-world needs and best practices in establishing innovation incubators. This makes it a practical and adaptable resource for organizations aiming to foster social impact through collaborative innovation.
